Just over two years ago I was in a very dark place. I had broken up with my girlfriend and was deeply unhappy with my job and career path. It got so bad that I was losing sight in my left eye. My body's ability to balance got so messed up that several times a day I would have to hold onto a wall or a door handle for a few minutes. Why? Because I felt my body was about to collapse and I'd fall and hurt myself. I was carrying a thick foggy grey cloud around my head that I thought was perfectly normal and acceptable. It got bigger and bigger over a couple of years.
At a crisis point I realised I had to do something about my declining health. I attended a workshop in London called The Awakening during which the facilitator Sidra Jafri led the group to connect with their higher selves through a creative visualisation process. Whilst engaging with this process I felt a sudden rush of power flow through me. It was like a ray of light breaking through the dark cloud of ill-health that I had created for myself.
That light of hope eventually led me to realise I was carrying a lot of bitterness, anger and resentment and other unprocessed feelings about myself and others which had built up this dark cloud of pain and suffering. I was aware of it, I accepted it, understood and appreciated it. I was given the tools to work through this dark cloud and transform it into light which I did. My health improved quickly, so did my eyesight and balance.
I understood better what it means to be true to oneself and taking greater care of one’s internal world. No one else can look after what is in your heart and mind…only you. How much attention are you giving to the home that is you?
