Hi Wendy, I am told that crystals have special healing powers. When I hold them in my hand or place them on my body, I can detect no difference between them, they just feel like hard lumps of stone with no power at all. Lucy

Thank you for your question, Lucy. Crystals are created in the core of our planet and take many millions of years to form. Like all natural products of our planet, they are star dust and composed of the constituents of our universe. These natural stones come in many types, colours and formations and are all highly sought after. However, removing them from the place where they occur naturally in the Earth often involves a mining process that can produce huge amounts of carbon emissions, destroy habitats of many species and also affect the health of the miners who have little access to medical assistance or disability benefits. Due to an uncaring history, as healing tools, crystals are not very effective. It is possible to heal just as effectively without them, especially by using colour healing if this is the desire. In the past, I collected and used these pretty coloured stones and I still enjoy my collection which I value beyond their resale price. However, now I am more aware, I prefer not to remove them from the planet – as they can never be returned there and our planet has very finite resources. As a spiritual healer, my practise has not suffered as a result of not using them.
