Is matter a complex illusion?
Do we exist as waves of energy on a vast sea of light - a hologram created from pure consciousness? Quantum theory threatens to unite science and spirituality as it pulls apart the very building blocks from which our world appears to be made. How might quantum theory explain the creation of the universe? Here is a perspective to stimulate your own thinking...
In the beginning there was nothing but even nothing is something. Once you have something, there is an even stronger probability that something will become something else and so begins an evolutionary chain process which is unstoppable.
As evolution continued over eons of 'time' (so much time that it is impossible for the human mind to contemplate) it was unavoidable that the evolved something would become conscious of itself. In other words there was awareness that evolution was happening.
Evolution continued for eons more time until through evolved awareness the One Life began to know itself conceptually although it couldn't know itself experientally because there was only oneness and since experience is only born out the relationship of one thing to another, there could be no experience.
How can you truly know yourself if you are all that is? The One Life knew that to try to define what it is, is only to define what it is not. Because if you define infinite potential (ie what the One Life is), what you are defining is not infinite - definition says "this is this and that is that".
Eons more timed passed, the intelligence of the One Life rapidly expanded and it came up with a plan, dreamed if you like, how it might fully experience what it is. It divided into "IS" and its mirror "IS NOT". From this was born relativity and therefore the possibility of experience.
The solution was to have an experience of what it is not. Since the One Life could not not know what it is, the only thing it could do was to forget what it is and then remember.
To forget and then remember implies that linear time is necessary and also space between the two parts of the evolving something through which relativity is being experienced. Therefore the One Life created time and space as a concept.
It then 'lost' part of itself (IS) in the evolving something (IS NOT). Hence it could now experience itself through the relativity of the two parts.
However after a while it knew that this experience was too limiting. So the next part of the plan was to experience life through multiplicity - in other words to have as many varied experiences as possible.
In order that the One Life could have as many experiences as possible, it caused IS NOT to 'divide' into an infinite number of parts (in fact this is just an illusion, the parts only appearing to be separate). Hence what scientists refer to as the ‘Big Bang’ occurred.
The illusionary matter then formed into different vibrational states. Gases appeared which slowed to form vapours and solids which gathered together in clusters to form the planets and eventually the whole of physical life as we witness it today.
The One Life realised that to know itself truly, it had to loose 'parts' of IS in IS NOT. So a second wave of IS then flowed outwards and imbued itself in the IS NOT. IS identified itself with the hologram causing it to forget its infinite potential thereby creating the illusion of matter - the IS became defined in time and space.
However as stated, 'matter' and multiplicity of form is just a complex illusion. Scientists have proved that matter isn't really matter as we know it at all. Rather it exists as packets of energy called 'Quanta'. The famous scientist Heisenberg showed that these Quanta can be everywhere and nowhere in the universe at the same time.
Recently science has proved the presence of a universal energy field that exists even in a total vacuum and at the absolute zero of temperature, so called because it was thought that no life could exist at that temperature. It is called the Zero Point Field.
It is a vast sea of light that we cannot see because our eyes can only perceive difference and the light is everywhere. What science is also beginning to prove is that matter, or rather quanta, emerges out of the Zero Point Field by observation through the senses.
If you like, IS creates a hologram (a dream) and individualised mind makes the hologram a 'reality' which we experience through the senses. When you think about it, all sensations can be reduced to chemical reactions in the brain anyway so what we experience as solid matter is simply the result of the movement of electrons between neurons in the brain. The matter isn't solid, we just experience it as such.
