Note: you may want to record this meditation or have someone to read it out loud for you. You will also need to have some paper and pencil handy. Count to 5 in between sentences..
Before we start, I’ going to ask you to consider the following quotes:
“Everything that can be invented has been invented” Commissioner of US Patent Office, 1899
“The telephone has many shortcomings to be a means of communication.” Executive from World’s Leading Telegraph Company, 1876
“I think there’s a world market for maybe five computers.” IBM Chairman 1945.
Now I am going to invite you to close your eyes, and open your imagination. Let’s start by breathing deeply, bringing all the air to your belly. Fill your belly, feel it expand. Press the muscles in your belly to let all the air out. Now let it go. Breathe in again. Feel the air travel through your nostrils, down your throat, all the way down. And let it go. Breathe in one more time. And let it go. Now breathe normally.
See yourself in a beautiful garden.
Hear the birds’ song, smell the fresh air. In the centre of the garden there is a stone well.
Walk to it.
See into its dark, reflecting waters that resemble a black mirror.
In this smooth surface, an image appears: a picture of a dream, a hope, a desire from long ago, something you have always wanted to do or try. What is it?
See it, clearly now.
It’s like a black and white picture of that wish, come t
Now, ask yourself, do I really still desire this?
If the answer is yes, see the image become colourful, see yourself in the image.
If the answer is no, ask the well to provide another, truer wish, in full colour.
As you see the image, ask yourself, what can I do, in my present circumstances, to bring this dream forth?
How do I adapted it to who I am today?
What needs to change a bit so I can make this dream come true?
See yourself in the image one more time.
Now look at the well.
There’s a tiny seed floating in the waters. Take it out carefully. Hold it lovingly in your hand.
See how it cracks a bit and a tiny, emerald green shoot comes out. It’s your dream, beginning to grow.
You will have to protected from the voices telling you that this little seed is not worth the trouble, to just let it die. Now walk away from the well.
Breathe in deeply.
Now you are back in the room.
Feel the chair underneath you.
Wiggle your toes and fingers.
And when you are ready, open your eyes.
Welcome back. Now take five minutes to write your dream in the card, as well as the ideas the came to you on how to make it a reality. Finish writing: “I (your name) give thanks for this inspiration and from this moment on (write the day) start taking the steps to make my wish come true.” Put the note in your envelope and put it in safe place. Re-read once a month.
